All the New Features of ProRealTime v13: Complete Guide

A complete rundown of all the new features of ProRealTime v13: chart tabs, improved lists, simplified creation, options chain, market profile and more.

ProRealTime v13 is no longer in beta — at least on the software side. The platform brings a ton of new features ranging from tabs on charts to the complete overhaul of the Market Profile, including options on US stocks with real-time data. Let’s go through them one by one.

Tabs on charts

It seems like a minor thing, but in practice it changes the way you work quite a bit. You can now have multiple tabs in each chart window — not just to switch assets quickly, but to have the same asset set up with different indicators or timeframe views.

  • Switch between assets with one click, without having to open a new window or search the list every time
  • Set up the same underlying with different indicators in each tab — for example, one view with moving averages and another with volatility bands
  • Have different timeframes separated by tabs to speed up daily technical analysis

Other platforms already had it, but the implementation in ProRealTime is clean and fast. For daily analysis, it’s a feature that once you try it, you don’t stop using.

Improved lists with mini-charts and indicators

Lists have received a significant improvement in the columns you can add. Through the settings icon (the wrench) you now have access to many more options:

  • Expanded percentage variations — from intraday (30 seconds, 2 minutes, 5 minutes) to long term (3 months, 1 year, 5 years)
  • All-time highs and lows — of the last year, 3 years or 5 years, very useful for long-term traders
  • Volume data — capital traded, one-hour relative volume and other liquidity metrics
  • Mini-charts and indicators within the list itself — you can see the visual evolution of the price without opening a full chart

This last feature is probably the most useful: the mini-charts built into the list make it much more visual to spot trends at a glance, similar to what mobile trading apps already offer.

ProReal Map: the hidden gemThis isn’t new in v13, but a lot of people don’t know it exists. Within the three-horizontal-lines menu you have the ProReal Map — a market heat map with your own list of assets. It can be configured by capital traded, volume or importance. Many people pay for separate software to have something like this, and they have it included in the platform.

Fundamental data from the platform

Through the information button (the “i”) of any asset you can access a dividend and earnings calendar, the company’s financial information, market consensus and analyst reviews. All of this opens directly with Market Screener, and the best part is that the searches you do from ProRealTime are free and unlimited, with no need for a Market Screener subscription.

Simplified ProScreener creation

The ProScreener already let you create scanners without programming, but in v13 they’ve made it even simpler. The process now works like this:

Create a scanner step by step

Open Lists > ProScreener > New > Simplified creation

Add conditions directly from the chart — select indicators, moving averages or any visual element and define the condition

Set the timeframe view of each condition — you can now combine conditions from different timeframes in the same scanner

Select the list of assets you want to run the scanner on and click save (the floppy disk)
Careful with the timeframe viewsThe new ability to mix timeframes is very powerful, but it can also be confusing. If you’re looking at a one-hour chart and add a condition, check that the criterion’s timeframe view is really the one you want — by default it may come up as daily.

Another important improvement: you no longer need to have the indicator set up on the chart to use it in the scanner. You can search directly for an RSI, for example, and add the condition without having put it on the chart window beforehand.

Options chain: strategy scanner

You already know the options chain from the channel — we’ve been testing it since the alpha phase. But there’s a relatively new feature we hadn’t covered: the strategy scanner.

The idea is simple but very powerful. Instead of building the strategy yourself and then adjusting strikes until you find the profile you want, here you do the opposite:

  • You define your risk profile — direction (bullish, bearish, neutral), target price, maximum cost and maximum acceptable loss
  • You select the expiration you’re interested in
  • The platform returns all the possible strategies that match those criteria, with all the possible strikes

It’s a different way of looking for strategies that adapts to your risk profile instead of forcing you to build it manually. In addition, the options chain still makes it easy to create strategies with few clicks — for example, a Bull Put Spread is set up with just two clicks, without having to remember whether you buy or sell first.

Options on US stocks (OPRA market)

This was one of the keys of v13. The OPRA market is now available, which means you can see the real-time prices of the options chain of any US stock — Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia or any other. OPRA is the largest data market that exists in terms of information volume: every strike, every expiration, every bid-ask, all in real time.

Subscribing to the real-time dataThe OPRA market is subscribed to like any other real-time data within the platform. You can now subscribe and trade options on US stocks directly from ProRealTime.

Revamped code editor

For those who program indicators or automated systems, v13 brings a code editor with a much more dedicated interface. It now resembles a real programming editor more closely: files organized on the left, tabs to have several programs open at once, and a more comfortable environment to work in.

If you need help with coding, the ProRealCode forum is still the best resource — there they’ll answer any question about what you can and can’t do with ProRealTime’s language.

Revamped Market Profile

For those who trade with volume, this is probably the star new feature. The Market Profile has been completely revamped. Since v12 the whole Volume Profile and Order Flow area had already been greatly improved, but here they’ve added the finishing touch.

  • Full configuration by timeframe views — you can adjust the profile for a day, a week or the period you need
  • Volume Profile as a drawable object — you can now draw a Volume Profile on any zone of the chart, as if it were just another object
  • POC, letters and all the usual Market Profile information, fully configurable

The Market Profile is subscribed to as a separate module (approximately 19 euros a month), but it’s deducted through the trading credits — one euro per trade. Traders who use Market Profile usually make enough trades for the cost to cover itself.

Simulated position: calculating risk-reward visually

Another new tool that’s within the chart objects. The simulated position lets you draw your entry, your stop loss and your take profit directly on the chart, and the platform automatically calculates the win-loss ratio and the percentages. This eliminates the need to create fictitious orders just to calculate levels — something that used to be the only available method.

Conclusion

ProRealTime v13 is a major update that touches almost every area of the platform. Chart tabs and improved lists make the day-to-day more agile. The simplified ProScreener creation and the strategy scanner in the options chain open up possibilities for finding opportunities more efficiently. And for those who work with volume, the revamped Market Profile is a considerable leap. If you haven’t tried it yet, you can access ProRealTime v13 right now.
